Hey beauties! Summer is here and we all know how harsh the sun can be on our skin. That’s why I’m here to share with you some of my favorite summer skincare products for Indian women. These products are specially designed to suit our skin type, tone and climate. Whether you have oily, dry or combination skin, there’s something for everyone in this list. So let’s get started!
This is a no-brainer, but sunscreen is the most important product you need to protect your skin from sun damage, premature aging and skin cancer. Look for a sunscreen that has at least SPF 30, broad spectrum protection and is water-resistant. I love the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen because it’s lightweight, non-greasy and doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin. You can buy it online from here.
Washing your face twice a day is essential to remove dirt, oil and makeup that can clog your pores and cause breakouts. Choose a face wash that is gentle, pH-balanced and suitable for your skin type. I recommend the Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash because it contains neem and turmeric, which are natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents that help prevent acne and pimples. You can get it from here.
Toning your skin after cleansing helps to restore its pH balance, hydrate it and prepare it for the next steps of your skincare routine. A toner can also help to shrink your pores and remove any traces of dirt or makeup that your face wash might have missed. I like the Plum Green Tea Alcohol-Free Toner because it contains green tea extract, which is rich in antioxidants and helps to control excess oil production and soothe irritated skin.
Even if you have oily skin, you still need to moisturize it to keep it soft, smooth and healthy. A moisturizer helps to lock in moisture, prevent dehydration and repair your skin barrier. Look for a moisturizer that is lightweight, oil-free and non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores). I swear by the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion because it’s fragrance-free, hypoallergenic and suitable for all skin types.
Once or twice a week, treat yourself to a face mask that can address your specific skin concerns and give you a boost of radiance. A face mask can also help to exfoliate, detoxify and nourish your skin. There are many types of face masks available in the market, such as clay masks, sheet masks, peel-off masks and more. I love the Mamaearth Ubtan Face Mask because it contains saffron, turmeric and apricot oil, which help to brighten, lighten and even out my skin tone.
Lip Balm with SPF
Just like your skin your lips also needs protection from the sun! A lip balm with SPF not only protects your lips from sun damage, but also keeps them hydrated and heals any dryness or chapping. So, before you apply your favorite matte lipstick, don’t forget to prep your lips with an SPF lip balm. I love Dot & Key Gloss Boss Tinted Lip Balm, it’s also works best when I don’t want to apply lipstick.
Cooling Eye Gel
The skin around our eyes is extremely delicate which can become dry and puffy due to the harsh summer sun. A cooling eye gel can help soothe and hydrate this area, reducing puffiness and leaving your eyes looking fresh and bright. You can grab it from here.
Hydrating Night Cream
Lastly, after a long day of battling the heat and dust, your skin deserves some nighttime TLC (tender loving care). A hydrating night cream can help restore and rejuvenate your skin while you sleep, ensuring you wake up with soft, supple skin, ready to face another summer day.
So these are some of the summer skincare products that I use and recommend for Indian women. Remember, the key is to listen to your skin and its needs. Everyone’s skin is unique, and what works wonders for one person might not do the same for another. Stay hydrated, stay protected, and most importantly, enjoy your summer!
